The incoming Chief Information Officer (CIO) will play a pivotal role in providing actionable insights, reliable infrastructure, and inspiring leadership to enable CHA to achieve its mission and deliver high-quality care for all.CHA's belief in health equity and quality care is unwavering. In 2022, CHA developed an ambitious strategic plan, "Equity and Excellence for Everyone, Every Time." The CIO will be an integral part of this plan, working closely with other leaders to ensure that CHA delivers on its promises and continues to innovate and improve. The primary goal is to put patients first and provide easy-to access, whole-person healthcare for the people who need it most. With two acute care hospitals, one child and adolescent psych hospital, primary care and specialty practices, and the Cambridge Health Department, CHA is a vital healthcare provider in the region. As a strategic partner of Beth Israel Lahey Health and Harvard Medical School teaching hospital system, CHA is uniquely positioned to provide comprehensive, cutting-edge care to its patients.The CIO will develop a comprehensive IT vision that aligns with the organization's mission and objectives. A primary responsibility will involve evaluating the current IT structure and developing a roadmap that fosters a cohesive, service-oriented, and collaborative team that partners effectively with operational and clinical leaders. In addition, the CIO will oversee several critical initiatives, including developing an overall strategy for data and analytics, creating a more streamlined architecture for CHA's business applications and a plan to modernize IT infrastructure. Effective governance and project prioritization will also be critical to ensure all CHA's resources are used to maximize impact. This position will require a mission-driven, emotionally intelligent, visionary IT leader with demonstrated experience in leading IT transformations in a complex health system. The CIO will be a collaborative, team-oriented professional who can communicate effectively and build strong relationships across the health system. Additionally, the CIO should bring a passion for healthcare and technology and a system-thinking mindset of continuous improvement and innovation.The CIO will report to CHA's Chief Operating Officer and will serve as a member of the organization's senior leadership team.Responsibilities--- Develop and implement an IT strategy that supports the hospital's mission to provide quality care for all patients and ensures optimal allocation of resources--- Collaborate with clinical and operational leaders to identify technology needs and opportunities, ensuring the IT department's efforts align with the hospital's overall goals and priorities--- Lead the evaluation and modernization of the hospital's IT infrastructure, including hardware, software, and systems, to improve operational efficiency, patient care, and data security--- Develop and oversee transparent governance processes that effectively evaluate and prioritize projects and investments--- Enable CHA to achieve its mission and strategy through data access and analysis. Ensure systems and structures are designed to meet the data needs of the organization--- Lead the development and implementation of innovative IT solutions that enhance patient care and improve outcomes--- Develop and manage IT budgets, ensuring cost-effective use of resources while maintaining high levels of service and support--- Foster a culture of collaboration, customer service, and continuous improvement within the IT department, promoting teamwork, open communication, and accountability--- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and best practices in data privacy and security--- Serve as a member of the hospital's executive leadership team, providing expertise and guidance on all strategic initiatives--- Mentor, develop, recruit and retain a proactive, service-oriented team. Foster an environment that promotes professional growth and staff development through effective leadership and education--- Develop and maintain a cyber security program that adheres to standards, controls and processes for the protection of digital assets against threats and vulnerabilities while enabling hospital operations--- Provide effective open communication throughout IT and for dissemination of information throughout the organizationEducation/Certification--- Minimum of Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field or equivalent experience is required. Advanced degree or equivalent experience preferred.Knowledge and Work Experience--- Extensive executive-level experience in a healthcare organization with exemplary quality, growth and sustained financial strength--- Significant experience as an executive in a senior information technology leadership position, such as a CIO or #2 within a complex health system --- A strategic visionary leader that has a strong track record in leading a highly responsive, service-oriented information technology organization that consistently meets its goals --- A progressive, visionary leader with significant experience in the development, execution and operationalization of IT strategic plans --- Demonstrated success with clinical engagement and adoption--- A proven track record of effectively leading and facilitating transformational change in a complex organization--- Knowledge and experience with information security and the threat landscape --- Ability to prioritize organizational needs and deploy IT resources efficiently--- Strong knowledge and experience with all aspects of technology, networks and systems within the healthcare industry--- Knowledge of the IT-driven regulatory compliance requirements pertinent to healthcare providersLeadership Skills and Competencies--- Effective leadership skills which demonstrate decisiveness, strategic thinking, collaboration, teamwork and problem-solving--- A proven leader who can build relationships and effectively lead, motivate and inspire the IT team--- The ability to understand the future of healthcare technology and execute on best in class strategies to deliver high-quality healthcare --- Demonstrated commitment to health equity and social justice--- Forward thinking, innovative leader with a broad understanding of the technology industry, including current and emerging digital solutions, and experience managing technology-enabled business change in healthcare--- Strong business and technical acumen--- Commitment to advancing diversity, inclusion and equity --- Passion for problem-solving --- Willingness to participate in productive conflict and disagree professionally when not in agreement --- Ability to hold direct reports and peers accountable In keeping with federal, state and local laws, Cambridge Health Alliance (CHA) policy forbids employees and associates to discriminate against anyone based on race, religion, color, gender, age, marital status, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity, veteran status, disability or any other characteristic protected by law.
