Job DescriptionJob SummaryThe Liability Director position's
preferred locations are Hartford, NYC, or Jersey City. The role
involves working with Third Party Claim Administrator Managed
Business Units, primarily Programs and some Alternative Markets.
The position supports the Claim Organization in achieving
world-class technical claim outcomes.Responsibilities
- Provide technical expertise and oversight to Claims Account
Managers in analyzing and handling coverage issues.
- Provide technical expertise and oversight to Claims Account
Managers in managing complex claims.
- Manage the Trial Committee process, including case review,
development of resolution strategies, and reporting to the Home
Office.
- Attend mediations and trials of complex cases as needed.
- Review and edit responses to Time Limit, Stowers, and Policy
Limit Demands.
- Conduct reserve reviews for general liability and automobile
liability accounts.
- Review analytics and reports, such as BI Predictive Modeling
System and Large Loss Snapshot, to identify cases for further
discussion.
- Perform reserve reviews and conduct training sessions for
Claims Account Managers and TPA Claim Handlers on current
topics.
- Facilitate internal and external partnership calls to address
issues of concern.
- Partner with liability directors and line managers to ensure
process and quality consistency across business units.
- Identify loss cost reduction opportunities and support
strategies for improved financial outcomes.
- Address regulatory issues, including Medicare, state insurance
department audits, and workers' compensation requirements.
- Participate in various claims-related projects as
needed.Required Skills/Experience
- Minimum 15 years of experience in the insurance industry.
- Multiline experience as a frontline claims adjuster or
supervisor, and in a service or account management
role.Qualifications
- Detailed technical knowledge of automobile and general
liability claims handling, with the ability to advise on complex
injury and property damage cases.
- Knowledge of construction-related claims is helpful but not
required.
- Ability to analyze complex coverage issues, draft disclaimers,
and Reservation of Rights letters.
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, problem-solving, and
critical thinking skills.
- Strong communication, presentation, and negotiation
skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and make
decisions collaboratively.
- Liability Claims Audit experience.
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
