Job Description:
Position Summary/Department Summary: BCH’s Neonatal Intensive
Care Unit (NICU) a Level III/IV, 30-bed referral center for
critically ill infants requiring complex medical and surgical care.
Highly specialized physicians, nurses, and support staff
collaborate in the care of critically ill infants and their
families. This part time social worker will join our team of NICU
social workers. Key responsibilities: - Psychosocial assessments
and ongoing support during admission for all families - Supportive
counseling as families process and cope with medical diagnoses -
Develops and maintains effective therapeutic relationships with
patients and families - Bereavement counseling - Crisis
intervention - Psychosocial consultation and support to the
multidisciplinary health care team Minimum Qualifications
Education: - Master’s degree in social work. Experience: - Clinical
experience with the perinatal mental health population and advanced
training and certification (PMH-C) is highly preferred. -
Flexibility and ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic
environment. - Strong critical thinking, communication, and problem
solving skills. - Experience in a medical environment or with
chronic illness is preferred Licensure: - LCSW in the state of MA
required, LICSW in the state of MA preferred Schedule: Mondays from
11:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10:30
a.m. to 6:00 p.m. This position is eligible for part time benefits
and a $2,500 sign on bonus! The posted pay range is Boston
Children’s reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at
the time of posting. Any base pay offer provided depends on skills,
experience, education, certifications, and a variety of other
job-related factors. Base pay is one part of a comprehensive
