Job Description:
*The Massachusetts Executive Office of Education (EOE)*works to
connect all Massachusetts residents with an education that creates

Department of Early Education and Care, Department of Elementary
and Secondary Education (K-12), Department of Higher Education, and
the state's 29 public colleges and universities to connect programs
and policies across the entire public education system. EOE is
seeking to hire a*Java Developer*to join the EOE Information
Technology (IT) group and will be reporting directly to an EOE
Senior Program Manager The EOE IT group strives to connect and
empower communities of learners, from birth to college to the
workforce, by building and supporting innovative systems that
facilitate positive outcomes for all. The EOE IT group is a diverse
team of professionals dedicated to ensuring that the Commonwealth
of Massachusetts remains the national leader in education. The Java
Developer will be primarily responsible for the design,
development, enhancement, testing, documentation, and maintenance
of custom business application software systems. The incumbent will
be responsible for maintaining, modifying, and enhancing existing
J2EE applications. The incumbent must have a solid background in
object-oriented methodologies. The incumbent must be
results-oriented and positive with excellent analytical and
communication skills. The successful candidate must - be a
self-starter able to perform with minimal supervision while working
in a diverse team environment following Agile software development
processes. The incumbent must also be a well-rounded individual
with great analytical skills, excellent attention to detail,
enthusiasm for taking ownership of features, and possess a strong
commitment to quality. The primary work location for this role will
be at 75 Pleasant Street Malden, Massachusetts 02148. The work
schedule for this position is Monday thru Friday, 9:00AM to 5:00PM.
This position would be expected to follow a hybrid model of
reporting to work that combines in-office workdays and work from
home days as needed.**Schedules are subject to change based on the
operational needs of the business. *Additional Responsibilities and
Duties:* --- Design and implement new initiatives (primarily in
Java) that utilize WebSphere portal, WebLogic, and Rational tools
(Rational Team Concert) --- A core member of the Java team working
closely with the production support (PS) group. The PS group
provides 24/7 support for an abundance of web applications
throughout the Secretariat. *Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and
Abilities:* --- 3-5 years of professional experience in analysis,
object-oriented design, development, implementation, and
maintenance of software applications using JAVA/ J2EE and Python.
--- Proficient Knowledge and hands-on experience in Software
Development Life Cycle (SDLC), and Agile Model Driven Development
(AMDD). --- Proven knowledge and hands-on experience with the
following technical skillsets: o Object Oriented Programming using
Java/J2EE, XML, Web Services, Servlets, JSPs. o Python o AWS o
Spring (Spring Boot) o Object Relational Mapping tools like
Hibernate Web Logic o MVC architecture, Spring 2.5 , Struts
framework. o Eclipse, Version Controls. --- Hands-on experience and
knowledge with UI design and Development, JSP, HTML5, CSS,
JavaScript libraries like JQuery, Data Tables, JSF (PrimeFaces is a
plus), Node, Angular, and React; visualization tools knowledge
(like D3.js or Sigma.js) is a plus. --- Proficient knowledge of
SQL/PL-SQL in Oracle 10G and SQL Server Databases --- Hands-on
experience working on Application Servers like Web WebLogic 9/10.0
and above, JBoss. --- Experience building enterprise Java
applications using Maven/Gradle/Ant. --- Experience with AirFlow
for ETL. --- Experience in systems upgrade, integration and
migration to the Cloud is a plus. --- Able to give work estimates
and to complete projects by the deadline. --- Ability to work
collaboratively as a team, flexible and willing to pitch in where
needed. This may mean on occasion helping with other functions
(e.g., QA, Operations). --- Must be able to adapt to changing
priorities and master new technologies in a timely and efficient
manner. --- Excellent interpersonal and technical communication
with peers, and non-peers alike, with a can-do attitude *Education
and Certifications: * --- Bachelor's Degree in computer science,
Information Systems, or other related engineering field, or
equivalent related work experience. --- AWS certification
desirable, but not required. *First consideration will be given to
