Job Description Job Description Job Title Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) – Clinical Laboratory Profession / Specialty Laboratory – Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) Location North Providence, RI Assignment Duration 13 Weeks Shift & Schedule Shift: Night Shift Schedule: 4 × 10-hour shifts Hours: 9:00 PM – 7:00 AM Rotation: 7 days on / 7 days off Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend Block Scheduling: Not permitted Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) to support a community hospital clinical laboratory on a night shift assignment. This role requires a strong generalist background with hands-on experience across hematology, chemistry, and blood bank (tube method) . Candidates must be comfortable working independently during overnight hours in a fast-paced hospital environment. Note: This unit does not accept first-time travelers. Key Responsibilities Perform generalist laboratory testing in hematology, chemistry, and blood bank Conduct specimen analysis, result validation, and quality control procedures Operate and troubleshoot automated laboratory instruments Perform blood bank testing including crossmatching, antibody identification, and antigen typing Maintain compliance with laboratory safety standards, quality assurance, and regulatory requirements Accurately document results and communicate critical values as required Required Certifications ASCP – MLT or ASCP – MLS (Required) Experience Requirements Minimum 3 years of recent Medical Laboratory Technician experience Community hospital clinical laboratory experience – Required First-time travelers will not be considered Patient Population Neonates (preferred experience) Infants (preferred experience) Pediatrics (preferred experience) Adolescents Adults Geriatrics Special Procedures / Unit Details Generalist role covering: Hematology Chemistry Blood Bank (tube method) Experience with Beckman chemistry automation is a plus Required Skills & Competencies Laboratory Settings Hospital Clinical Laboratory Commercial or Reference Laboratories Blood Bank ABO/Rh Testing Antibody Screen & Identification AHG Crossmatch Immediate Spin & IgG Crossmatch Antigen & Antibody Typing (Tube Method) Direct & Indirect Coombs (DAT) Electronic Crossmatch Rhogam Screening Blood Irradiation Chemistry & Special Testing Arterial Blood Gas (ABG) Hormone Testing Immunoassay Osmolality Therapeutic Drug Monitoring Thyroid & Tumor Marker Testing Cardiac Enzymes B-12 / Folates Hematology & Coagulation CBC (Manual) Manual Differential Platelet Count Reticulocyte Count Fibrinogen Sed Rate (Manual) Urinalysis & Body Fluids Microscopic Urinalysis Body Fluids Analysis Occult Blood Testing 24-Hour Urine Instrumentation & Safety Automated Analyzer Operation Blood Specimen Storage Quality Assurance & Quality Control Hazardous Materials Handling (MSDS) Proper Labeling & Disposal Transmission-Based Precautions For more details reach at sthakur@navitashealth.com or Call / Text at 732 791 4807 - EXT 4807 .
